Household Items You Didn’t Know You Can Use For Packing

Before we begin packing, we usually plan what packing materials to buy based on our household items. But what most of us don’t realize is that there are some packing materials you can use from your household items! So, before you contact packing and moving companies for help, read this list first and see how you can help the process:

Clothing and Towels

While some of us think of the best way to pack clothes and towels without consuming too much space, some actually use it to pack other items! This is a good option to protect fragile materials since it can provide cushion. Towels, socks, clothes and other fabric materials can be used for protection, but make sure you wrap something over them to avoid catching dirt. You can use them to cushion boxes well.

Baskets

Picnic baskets can provide better protection than boxes since they are sturdier and harder. While they may be small, they can still provide better protection for small items provided you got a good cushion, since this can minimize movement. Of course, you won’t have enough baskets to replace boxes so you should still contact your local moving company for boxes supplies or tips.

Newspapers

Newspapers are next to useless once the day of publishing passes. But if you’re moving, newspapers can provide great help and is a versatile packing material. They can be used to wrap small or large items, to wrap mirrors to avoid damage and accidents in case of breakage, as well as to use as stuffing or filler for hollow items or boxes.

Mattresses and Pillows

These items provide the utmost protection for fragile items when used as a cushion. They can easily absorb shock and vibrations thus avoiding breakage for fragile items. Instead of trying to find a place to pack them, use it to protect your other items and you will save more space. But then again, it’s also wise to wrap them with something to avoid dirt.

Straw

The common problem with packing jewelry is it getting tangled; or worse, being lost. One way to ensure your jewelry won’t get all tangled or lost is to use a straw. Just slide them in, secure the clasps of the jewelries, and you’re good to go. No more tangled necklaces and bracelets or earrings without the other pair.

Packing can be easy, fun, and cheap with a little creativity. You certainly can get help from professional moving services provider for packing and moving, but it can be more fulfilling to do a few things on our own that most people don’t even think about.
